WHAT IS A HEART ATTACK/ CARDIAC ARREST?

Heart attack is a heart condition in which when a blood clot travels through the blood veins and blocks the blood flow.

It happens with time, when the concentration of fats like cholesterol is increased in the blood. These fats gets deposited on the walls of the artery and veins. They carry the blood to and from the heart.

The cholesterol in blood makes the blood thick. The narrow walls of the artery and veins creates extra pressure on the heart to pump the blood.

This extra pressure on the heart, with time weaken the heart muscles. Sometimes, due to increases thickness of blood clots may form in the artery or veins.

They when travel to heart, blocks the passage of the blood flow from heart to rest of the nerves.

This condition causes pain in the affected area and heart muscles. With no blood supply the heart muscles aren’t able to function and can die. This is called Cardiac arrest.

WHAT CAUSES THIS CONDITION

What causes this condition can be one or several reasons. The most common is high level of blood cholesterol.

Cholesterol are bad fatty acids which are found in fried foods, ghee, butter, animal fats, etc.

Low metabolism rate, unhealthy life style, high blood pressure, hyper tension are some of the reasons that can cause this condition.

SIGNS OF HEART ATTACK

The symptoms varies in men and women, the most common is chest pain. While some chest pains can be mild, other can be intense. Let’s see how it affects men and women!

HEART ATTACK SYMPTOMS IN MEN

  • Discomfort in Chest is the most common in men.
  • The pain can come and go in repetitive manner for several minutes.
  • A feeling of tightness around the heart, something pressing the heart.
  • Shortness of breath is another common symptom. Due to lack of blood supply to the heart.
HEART ATTACK SYMPTOMS IN WOMEN
  • Chest pain just like men. Other than this;
  • Feeling Nauseated/vomiting
  • Back, neck and, shoulders pain can also be one of the symptoms.
  • Shortness of breath is common.

People often mistake Anxiety attacks, Acid reflux pain, and Acidity pain for a heart attack.

Call your Doctors/ ambulance and go to the nearest hospital

RECOVERY AFTER CARDIAC ARREST

Balanced Meal: focus on enriching foods with anti-oxidants, less/no oil, balanced salt and sugar intake.

Medication on time: Take your medicines on time is very important for fast recovery.

Exercise: Slowly build your strength by doing breathing exercises. Also include meditation in your daily routine.

Avoid stress: Don’t take stress or overthink unnecessarily. Stress releases cortisol which increases blood cholesterol and blood pressure.
